Warning: This is a VERY long, VERY rambly post. Read at your own risk.
The holiday season has officially started, and this has been a CRAZY busy week in the Fentress household. Started off with a bang on Sunday, with my Grandaddy getting married….nice wedding, and hey, not every day your Grandfather gets married.
Monday I took some really cute Christmas shots of the Josie girl for our Christmas cards (which, by the way, came the other night and are adorable). I’m not going to share those, though, because I don’t want to spoil the surprise of the card. Oh, and I have two things to say about those cards- I got 50 FREE photo cards-score! AND did anyone else know that UPS now delivers, at like, 9:00 at night? Yeah, we didn’t either, so when we heard a VERY loud knock on our door, and no one was there, we were just a little freaked out until we figured out what had happened. Also on Monday-yay! Percy was adopted :). That has been a big relief for us, not because we didn’t like Percy, but because now we don’t have the responsibility of a dog and a child.
Tuesday Jake had his 3rd church league basketball game, but this is the first one that Josie and I had attended because the other 2 were at 9:00 at night. Josie had a BLAST. She loved watching the game, and I think she probably followed it more intently than I did! She squealed and clapped for Jake and yelled “Daddy!” I would have gotten pictures, but my camera battery was totally dead. Next game…
Wednesday, before church, Josie and I met Jake at Cracker Barrel for dinner. Josie was totally a Daddy’s girl, had to sit in his lap before the food came, and patted him on the shoulder and said “my Daddy.” After dinner, we ran by Hobby Lobby to get beads for our tree, and Josie was holding onto the cart while Jake was pushing it, and we stopped, and suddenly she hopped up on the front and said “me ride!” It was the cutest thing, and I have no idea how she learned that, because I’ve never let her ride like that on the cart.
Thursday night I cooked dinner for Mama Judy and Granny and we ate over there. Josie was in love with Mama Judy’s new snowman and called it “meh-man.” She also was very full of herself, and had to play hide-and-seek like a million times. She is such a little girl now! Not a baby anymore :(.
Last night we finally got our tree decorated. We put it up on Saturday, and spent all night on Sunday taking the pre-lit lights off because they didn’t work anymore (after only 2 years), and it took forever because they put about a million little bracket things on them. We put new lights on it on Monday, and last night Josie helped us put beads and ornaments on. We kept it very simple this year; we didn’t put even half of all our ornaments on, but I like it. I am just in a very simple mood this year. I didn’t put half of my house decorations out, either. But that’s okay, because simple is good.
